I think it's fair to say that the stream of love that Mike Smith has been getting for the last few months has been nice to see, and VERY well deserved, Lord knows the Coyotes wouldn't even have made the playoffs without his stellar play down the stretch.
Yotes fans need to keep this in mind before taking to social media to express their displeasure with the way he plays the puck. We need to keep in mind, he's a puck playing goaltender, it's just what he does, for better or worse. You can't ask the guy to change his style now, just because goals against can potentially send you home. The thing I keep in mind is a sports phrase I heard long ago.
"You are never as good as you look when you are going good, or as bad as you look when things are going bad."
Smitty has given us both this year. Remember, there were points in the year where we (the fans) were BEGGING for LaBarbarra, as it seemed that Smitty couldn't stop a beach ball. Smitty's our guy, and he's awesome, win or lose we need to stand behind him 100%.
I was impressed by the amount on "We believe" type posts I saw as the third period started. The Coyotes are still up two games to one here, and are far from panicking. Let's stand behind our team folks, unwavering support. We've got something special going here, and should enjoy every minute of it.
Expect a much more focused Phoenix team on Friday. I'm betting we'll get back on track.
